Present and Previous Positions
Director of the Institute of Physics of Advanced Materials and also Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Physics of Metals at Ufa University of Science and Technology (former Ufa State Aviation Technical University) (Ufa, Russia).
Supervisor of the Laboratory for Mechanics of Advanced Nanomaterials of Saint-Petersburg State University (supported by the Government of the Russian Federation).
Fields of Scholarship and Research Interests
Professor Ruslan Z. Valiev is one of the first in the world who discovered and investigated principles of producing bulk nanostructured metallic materials by severe plastic deformation (SPD), and presently, his research interest is mainly focused on allowing achieving superior properties of various structural and functional metals and alloys by their SPD nanostructuring. The recognition of this fast-developing scientific area in materials science will give an impulse not only to fundamental investigations in bulk nanostructured materials but also accelerate their practical application in various branches of engineering and medicine.
