Present and Previous Positions

Full Professor at the University of Zaragoza

Fields of Scholarship and Research Interests

Dr. Doblaré’s research interests are in computational solid mechanics, multiscale and multiphysics problems with applications in Biomechanics and Mechanobiology. He also focused his research on model reduction and the combination of machine learning techniques and physical models.

The most important research contribution of Professor Doblaré has been the establishment of an internationally recognized group in Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, with applications in bone–implant interaction, bone remodeling, healing and osseointegration, soft tissue and joint modeling, tissue engineering, organ-on-chip systems, and the integration of physical and data-driven models for health applications. In addition to his research activity, Professor Doblaré has held several key academic leadership positions: Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dean of the School of Engineering, and founding Director of both the Aragon Engineering Research Institute and the National Center for Bioengineering, Biomaterials, and Nanomedicine. He was also co-founder of two spin-off companies, Ebers Medical Technology and BeonChip, which design, develop, and commercialize bioreactors and microfluidic devices, respectively.

Honors, Awards and Other Membership

He is elected a fellow of EAMBES, a member of the World Council of Biomechanics, and a permanent member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Engineering.
