Professor Hashimov’s scholarship centers on the scientific and technical problems of electrical power systems, especially electromagnetic transients, overvoltage phenomena, high-voltage equipment, and the behavior of electrical networks under complex operating conditions. His research has addressed mathematical modeling of electromagnetic processes in power transmission systems, transient and wave phenomena in electric networks, ferroresonance, surge processes, and related problems of system reliability and protection.
An equally important part of his work lies in electrophysics and high-voltage science more broadly. Here his research has extended to dielectric processes, strong electric fields and discharges, and applied investigations relevant to electrical insulation, switching conditions, and the safe and efficient operation of high-voltage systems. His academic profile therefore joins fundamental electrical science with the practical demands of modern energy infrastructure. His career has also been marked by sustained engagement with the scientific organization of energy research and with the development of research teams, laboratories, and technical institutions. In this respect, his contribution extends beyond individual scholarship to include the strengthening of scientific capacity in Azerbaijan.
