Present and Previous Positions

Professor Titular, do Instituto de Geociências da, Universidade Federal do Pará

Fields of Scholarship and Research Interests

PhD in Mineralogy and Geochemistry, the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany

Applied Mineralogy (clay minerals, zeolites, agrominerals and other industrial minerals)

Surface Geochemistry (soils, laterites, geochemical prospecting)

He has worked on mineralogy and geochemistry in the Amazon region, applied to: laterite weathering and associated mineral deposits, regional geochemical prospecting, industrial minerals and mining waste, and the behavior of metals in the environment. He has widely used and disseminated X-ray diffractometry in multidisciplinary studies related to mineral characterization, crystal structure modification and mineral synthesis for different industrial applications. He was responsible for the discovery of new mineral occurrences, such as zeolites and special clays, in sedimentary basins in the mid-northern region of Brazil.
