Professor, National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC), Brazil
From 1980 to 1984 he worked in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Uberlândia, MG, as an Adjunct Professor and from 1985 to June 1997 in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Newcastle, Australia, where he was a Professor. From 1992-1993, he worked as a Guest Researcher at the Laboratoire d'Automatique in Grenoble, France. He has also been a Visiting Professor (short term) at universities and research institutes in Australia, Brazil, USA, France, Israel and Switzerland. Since 1998, he has been a Full Researcher in the Systems and Control Department of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC).
Fields of Scholarship and Research Interests
Doctorate, specializing in Automation, from the Université de Paris 6, France (1980)
He is the Coordinator of PRONEX Control of Dynamic Systems, a CNPq I-A Researcher, a member of the CNPq Advisory Committee for Electrical and Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Carlos E. de Souza was Associate Editor of the International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control (IJRNC) and Guest Editor of the IJRNC Special Issue H-infinity and Robust Filtering. Since 1996 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control and Vice-President of the Linear Systems Technical Committee of the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). He is a referee for several renowned international scientific journals and an advisor to the Australian Research Council.

Dr. Carlos E. de Souza has published more than 150 scientific papers in leading international journals and conference proceedings, 60 of them in the most respected international scientific journals in the areas of control systems and signal processing. He has been regularly invited to give lectures and conferences at international congresses and universities abroad.
