Vladimer Papava (FCAcad) Appointed Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society

We are pleased to announce that our Fellow, Professor Vladimer Papava, was appointed a Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society (RES) on May 1, 2025.

Vladimer Papava (FCAcad)

Professor Vladimer Papava is a Fellow of the CORE Academy in the Division of Social Sciences. He is an internationally recognized economist, Academician and Academician-Secretary of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, and Professor of Economics at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He also serves as a member of the Academic Committee at the CORE Academy Institute (Ke Rui Academy). Previously, he served as Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (August 16, 2013 – April 20, 2016) and as Minister of Economy of Georgia (June 1994 – May 2000). Professor Papava's research interests include applied economics, post-communist economies, macroeconomics, economic growth and development, and international political economy.

Royal Economic Society (RES)

The Royal Economic Society (RES) is the pre-eminent economics association in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1890, it is a registered charity and was granted a Royal Charter in 1902. The Society has over 4,000 members across more than 70 countries, with approximately half based in the UK. Thousands more engage with the Society each year through group and institutional membership programmes, as well as through its journals, events, and other activities. The Society also publishes two leading peer-reviewed journals: The Economic Journal and The Econometrics Journal.


The Fellowship of the Royal Economic Society provides professional recognition for those who have made a significant contribution to the discipline of economics. Appointed Fellows are entitled to use the postnominals FREcon after their name.
